According to several reports, Apple is now exploring the development of its own car. Reports have revealed that Steve Zadesky, an Apple VP, has permission to hire nearly 1,000 employees to build an electric vehicle. Apple will tap some outside partners for lidar sensors that help self-driving cars get a three-dimensional view of the road. Some sensors could be derived from Apple’s internally developed lidar units, say reports. Additionally, the company is examining chemistry for the battery called LFP or lithium iron phosphate that is less likely to overheat and safer than any other lithium-ion battery.
