Mars Life Search Is On With NASA’s Perseverance

NASA’s Perseverance finally landed on Mars in February. Get a blow-by-blow account from science writer Robert Lee Hotz in this Wall Street Journal video. Perseverance’s mission is to gather evidence that would prove life may have existed on the red planet. If the robots find any biosignatures, they will pack them up in sterile containers for Earth scientists to analyze. NASA’s Perseverance is the fifth successful mission to Mars. It will return to Earth with samples, unlike the previous rovers. The project’s deputy manager Jennifer Trosper has been working on the rover for over eight years. As Holtz aptly puts it, “It’s a culmination of 50 years of exploration of Mars.”
