Upwork president and CEO Hayden Brown discusses in this Bloomberg Technology video how the pandemic-based WFH has become a positive change for businesses. Companies were suddenly able to tap into a wide range of talent pools to work for their business through remote support. Even if organizations open their offices after the pandemic, they will continue to leverage the WFH model’s advantages for years to come. Not only is it benefitting the companies, but also the employees and freelancers. Freelance work was trending upward before the pandemic, and it increased further during lockdowns. Independent workers prefer the autonomy they can exercise in their freelance jobs. They feel more secure as a consultant rather than being attached to a company that can shutdown or implement layoffs to survive recessions.
