IBM recently unveiled a breakthrough in semiconductor design and process with the world’s first chip with 2 nanometers (nm) nanosheet technology. According to IBM, the semiconductor plays a vital role in everything from computing to communication devices, transportation systems, and critical infrastructure. Additionally, the semiconductor is believed to achieve 45 percent higher performance, or 75 percent lower energy use than today’s most advanced 7nm node chips. One of the potential benefits of this advanced chip includes quadrupling cell phone battery life. This requires users to charge their devices once every four days.
