Volkswagen recently presented a ‘power roadmap’ to a future with cheaper, longer-range electric vehicles (EVs)—driven by next-generation batteries. The company announced that it would reduce the cost of producing its batteries by up to 50 percent. Further, they would build multiple battery factories across the world and expand their network of charging stations. Volkswagen, ultimately, aims at making electric cars with longer ranges and quicker charging times. The organization also seeks to reduce the cost and complexity of the battery and at the same time, increase its range and performance. Will Volkswagen prove to be a rival to Tesla?
