Facebook has been getting a lot of backlash regarding its incompetence to prevent hate crimes and addressing issues of whistleblowing and teen safety. Recently, senators had a meeting with Facebook officials where they raised their concerns regarding privacy and security. In a debate held by Bloomberg Technology, Laurie Segall, Executive Producer of Dot Dot Dot Media, mentioned that people have lost their patience and trust when it comes to Facebook. The Cambridge Analytica fiasco had garnered severe negative publicity in the past when people learned how they were accused of data mismanagement. Antigone Davis, Head of Global Safety at Facebook, said that Facebook and Instagram are planning to enhance their child safety tools where parents can supervise and manage their child’s experience.
