Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are rumored to spy on their customers, trace their data, and sell it to companies for an incredibly high amount. Meta has recently stated that more than 100 companies extract data from Facebook’s social media accounts and are using it for their benefit. In one of their latest videos, Bloomberg Technology talks about how Meta is planning to secure users’ details from being used by other companies. Nathaniel Gleicher, Head of Facebook security policy, mentions that the attacks predominantly occur in countries like Israel, India, and China. It is difficult to figure out who is behind this illegal data extraction. Anne Neuberger, Deputy National Security Advisor of the U.S, has suggested that countries should call out such companies and sanction them to stop such activities.
